Isaac Watts' God Centered View of Creation

Kimberly and I took a walk today. Kimberly made the comment that there is a huge contrast in our neighborhood between winter and spring. She's right. When spring comes there's a huge transformation that takes place. Bradford pears produce beautiful white pedals and dogwoods produce their various leaves of red, white and yellow. It's a beautiful picture of death and new life. It also reminded me of the the hymn I Sing the Mighty Power of God by Isaac Watts. May these lyrics serve to raise your affections of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I sing the mighty power of God, that made the mountains rise,
That spread the flowing seas abroad, and built the lofty skies.
I sing the wisdom that ordained the sun to rule the day;
The moon shines full at God’s command, and all the stars obey.

I sing the goodness of the Lord, who filled the earth with food,
Who formed the creatures through the Word, and then pronounced them good.
Lord, how Thy wonders are displayed, where’er I turn my eye,
If I survey the ground I tread, or gaze upon the sky.

There’s not a plant or flower below, but makes Thy glories known,
And clouds arise, and tempests blow, by order from Thy throne;
While all that borrows life from Thee is ever in Thy care;
And everywhere that we can be, Thou, God art present there.

I was thinking along the same lines a couple of days ago - but I've never read the hymn before.

Thanks Jason!

Sure don't write 'em like they used to.

Thanks, Jason.
